Denis Côté

Denis Côté burst onto the international film scene with a group of challenging and innovative movies. Born in 1973 in New Brunswick, Canada, he first produced and directed around fifteen low-budget short films while working as a film critic. He made his first feature in 2005, ”Les Etats nordiques, which won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival. Both his fiction films and documentaries are marked by an innovative language that results from an experimental spirit. In Curling (2010), Bestiaire (2012, 7. UX), Vic+Flo Saw a Bear (2013), Boris sans Béatrice (2015) Côté offers his own unique take on concepts of narrative and reportage: They are open-ended, mysterious, and subtly disturbing.
