Bob Flanagan, writer and performance artist, suffered from cystic fibrosis all his life. To oversome his pain, he started inflicting pain to himself in every possible way. No other artist in history has examined so literally the experience of pain and the associated pleasures of sadomasochism and domination. Kirby Dick accompanied Flanagan for the last two years of his life and created the portrait of an extraordinarly courageous man and artist. – Viennale V'97 Documentaries
