For fifteen years the director followed Masayo Mukaida, an old woman who lived at first with her husband, then, after he has died, alone in the outskirts of the little village of Taimagura, nestled in the foothills of Mount Hayachine. Her life is regulated by the cultivation of her field and the production of miso. The years go by like a poem in which life, death and memories are intertwined.
Yoshihiko Sumikawa, born in 1963 in Hiroshima. He studied literature at the University of Tokyo and works as programming director at the Japan Broadcasting Corporation. “Taimagura Bachaan” is his first film as an independent film maker.
