Synopsis:
For fifteen years the director followed Masayo Mukaida, an old woman who lived at first with her husband, then alone, in the outskirts of the little village of Taimagura, nestled in the foothills of Mount Hayachine, in Japan. Her life is regulated by the cultivation of her field and the production of miso, (a Japanese daily staple made from fermented soy beans). The years go by like a poem in which life, death and memories are intertwined.


Yoshihiko Sumikawa est né à Hiroshima en 1963. Après avoir obtenu un diplôme du département de littérature de l'Université de Tokyo en 1988, il rejoint la Japan Broadcasting Corporation en tant que directeur de programme.
